This top-loading kidney-shaped CD player looks and sounds like a work of art. In 2006, the Droplet was named best product of the year by Image HiFi of Germany and given the “Blue Moon” award by Six Moons.As Srajan Ebaen writes in Six Moons, “It has no problem with realistic dynamic scale or complex passages. It has a special fondness for well-recorded string tone particularly of the bowed variety. Vocal lock and presence is typical of valves, i.e. excellent. In 2009, the unit was slightly modified by a technician to place the fuses externally for easier access and to create some vents in the bottom to increase air flow and prevent overheating by the two 6H30 tubes. Close-ups show a tiny unstained spot on the wood and a very small nick above the window. That is all the marks I could find. Note that what appears to be dust on the window ledge is actually the surface of the metal. I could not get rid of the glare on top in photos 4 and 5.
