I purchased the 830 from David Lewis Audio in 2001. Aside from a visit back to Wadia in 2003 to replace a failed laser module (many failed – bad batch, paperwork provided), it has provided uninterrupted and flawless service. I bought it sight ‘unheard’ after reading Brian Damkroger’s 1999 review in Stereophile, available online. The 830 was packed with many of Wadia’s digital achievements initially developed for their SOTA machines including upsampling algorithms and the option of using its digital volume control if you chose to directly connect it to your amplifier. It offers balanced and unbalanced outputs, phase inversion, song and disc repeat. The digital inputs (glass fiber, coaxial and TOSLINK) accept 16-24 bits up to 96kHz. Its Pioneer Stable Platter transport requires that CDs are placed silver side up in the tray. Physical condition is better than good with only a couple of pinhead nicks on the top edge of the faceplate and a scratch on the bottom plate. The unit comes with Wadia metal cone feet and receptor discs, the upgraded Wadia milled aluminum remote, original power cord, original box and packaging and the manual. Buyer covers 3% PayPal fees.
