This Mac amp has just been serviced, it has all new bata matched transistors and has had the out of spec caps and resistors replaced. If there was a problem with one side- both channels were replaced to keep the sound the same. There was one bad transistor… so all were changed to larger ones of better quality so it will have a trouble free future from the output section. I burned it in for 24 hours to make sure all was well when it got home from the shop.
Cosmetically the unit is pretty clean- there are a few scratches on the transformer box, the RCA inputs have some of the old finish off (a small amount of silver contact enhancer will be provided to make sure you have a clean- good sounding connection). There are no bubbles on the glass! All the knobs are present and pretty clean. All of the lights work!
Why would I get rid of this? Well it is a long story, but I ended up with two of these, the other one was factory refurbished.
They are wonderful warm sounding amps, very reminiscent of tube gear, no listening fatigue from these Mac’s.
The amp is heavy and will be double boxed with reinforced corners (this is why I have two- the other one was crushed in shipping & required major surgery, I am still waiting for a new faceplate ($175.00 installed).
