Theta tube preamp from the early 80's. Rebuilt power supply, new Darlington transistors and a once-over from vintage specialist Don Sachs.6922-based preamp, two tube line stage, four tube phono section. Nothing has been "modernized" in the phono section. I have used the Theta as a stand alone phono preamp using the tape outs and it sounds very good, very musical, extended, tight bass. Tubes that come with the Theta are two matched JJ 12 AT7 and four matched, balanced 6922's just bought from Jim McShane. Phono section is surprisingly good for moving magnets, has plenty of gain to use with a step-up and a low output moving coil. Bulb in power switch is out, but switch works fine. Chassis is clean considering its age, one screw missing on the cover, damping material added here and there to the cover.
