For sale is a pair of Celestion 662 tower speakers in great shape. These were the top of the line in 1979 and were the successor to the famous Celestion 66 towers. They are all original with the exception of the top of the speakers which have been restained due to some light fading otherwise they are untouched (you can't tell anything has been done). They come with the original grills with the grey cloth and metal badges. The cabinets are finished in real Walnut veneer and the enclosures are well built with the pair selling for $1,800 in 1979 which was a lot of money back then. This is a pair of mirror imaged speakers that sound fantastic. They have the quintessential British sound that is warm, full bodied and fills the room beautifully with a wide soundstage. The center image is exceptional and brings voices right into the room. I've found that it's often difficult for large speakers to disappear into the room, but these do exactly that with aplomb. The 2" dome midrange is clear and articulate and truly a masterpiece. The woofers have butyl rubber surrounds in great shape that will last another 30+ years of use. Another thing about these speakers is that they're easy to place. By not having a port they don't seem to interact with the room much and could be placed near the back wall without messing up the midrange. Specifications

https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/celestion/ditton-662.shtml These are very rare speakers and the components alone go for considerably more than my asking price if parted out on ebay (but why would anyone do that!?). There is a brief review from a seller located here:
https://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649402242-rare-vintage-totl-celestion-ditton-662-speakers/ I'm selling to put the funds towards high efficiency speakers with a minimum of 95dbs into 8 ohms and will consider trades for the right pair of speakers with those specifications. These speakers work great with tube gear such as an EL84 or EL34 push pull amp or vintage solid state gear like a receiver. They need at least 12 watts of tube or 25 watts of solid state power to sound their best. I had
them hooked up to a 300B amp but they would prefer more power. If you are looking for vintage speakers that have that perfect blend of vintage warmth while still sounding quick and dynamic, these speakers are for you. Final Price drop to $350 THE SPEAKERS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL PICKUP IN NEW RIVER, AZ (about 35 miles North of Phoenix off of I-17) We are moving and only available on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Rated Conservatively at 6/10 for age and minor imperfections
