NOS small signal tubes.
For sale are a variety of NOS small signal tubes, two NOS 6X4 rectifiers and one (not NOS) Electro-Harmonix 6922.These tubes remain from a period when I owned a variety of (moderately high end) tubed preamps and CD players by manufacturers including Lector, Lamm, CAT, Joule, Aesthetix, and others. I have not owned tubed gear for several years and I do not plan on owning tubed gear again so I have decided to sell the tubes and let somebody else enjoy them. Unfortunately, it would be difficult for me to have them all tested so I am selling them all together, as-is, as sort of a "grab bag" of tubes. The ideal buyer is someone who has, or goes though, a lot of tubed gear and likes to try different classic tubes to achieve better sound. I will honestly describe what I suspect to be the overall condition of these tubes to the best of my ability below, but I caution that the condition or remaining life of the individual pairs is likely to vary, and is not guaranteed. In other words, you are taking a chance but paying less than if you purchased them from other sources. Here goes on the condition.
First, the tubes were all purchased from reputable sellers, including Jim McShane, Andy at Vintage Tube Services, Mullard, Tube Depot, Sam1104 on Audiogon and others...these were purchased as NOS tubes (not used) and as matched pairs. They are NOT garage sale tubes.
Second, to my recollection, they were all functional when removed from the gear they were used in and, in most cases, when I sold the gear, the buyer simply did not want to pay for the more expensive NOS tubes. I do not remember any of them displaying noticeable microphonics or other deficiencies.
Third, I typically owned most of that tubed gear for much less than a year (since I was buying and trying) so, in some cases, the tubes were not used very long at all. I believe I never used the rectifiers since they were purchased as back-ups for my Lamm LL2 Deluxe preamp. Because of my uncertainty regarding condition and remaining life of the tubes, and the possibility one or two of the pairs will not work out, I have priced them at a relatively low $425 for the lot (based on $25 each, but I will not break them up).
