Here is a nice, very strong quad of the legendary Telefunken Smooth Plate ECC83/12AX7 tubes. With the genuine, diamond/date codes molded on the bottom, two of these tubes are branded The Fisher and two are labelled Telefunken. There is some logo rubbing very noticeable on two tubes, but these all test very close and very strong. On my trusty Hickok transconductance tube tester, a test result of 32 represents a 65% good tube and new tubes of this type typically yield 50 or higher. The first tube, on the far left, is branded "the Fisher" and dated what looks like 32 over 2 which tests 48/32 & 50/32. Next to it is another "The Fisher" type, with rubbed logo and it is the only tube in this group to have a seam top glass, dated 12 over 2 which tests 46/32 & 48/32. Next is a Telefunken branded tube, with a some logo rubbing, dated 02 over 2 which tested at 48/32 & 50/32. Finally, another Telefunken branded tube with some logo rubbing, which tested 46/32 & 50/32. These results indicate a nice quad of phono grade, genuine smooth plate Telee tubes. All tubes passed the Shorts and Gas tests. This strong quad should easily last a few more decades.
